Took two young kids on Sunday, we hadn't booked, and experience was great. Dining in the shade, we had two meals of pasta and tomato and one adult chicken meatballs and spaghetti with a jug of iced lime water and the bill came to £13. For us, the staff were very helpful and attentive. Would love to see this back next year.

We loved our two meals at Giant Robot. We were at Latitude for our honeymoon and although we didn't book a table over the weekend, as there were two of us and we were prepared to share a table if needed, they always found a space for us. The first time the meal was fantastic. We got chatting to a great couple from Manchester and spent a very pleasant hour eating and relaxing. The second time we got a table to ourselves in the shade (very welcome in the heat of the sun on the Sunday), I had a great steak, OH had a huge, huge chicken portion and then we followed it up with an ice cream cookie sandwich. Delish! And the cocktails...yum! We thought the staffing was exceptional on our two visits and we left feeling very happy indeed. We would love to see them back next year. A brilliant addition to Latitude in a year where a lot of other changes at Latitude were for the worse. We're now going to check out the restaurant in London.

Giant Robot....Giant disappointment!! When we arrived staff seemed to be in a state of confusion. They were trying to turn the tables between the first and second sittings and seemed not to know who was coming and who was going. They informed us we could eat take out from the deli. Why not we thought as the sun was out and we were happy to find a spot somewhere. We ordered a giant mojito while waiting for our meatballs and spaghetti. The food was truly awful. Overcooked pasta and meatballs that were tasteless, dry and hard. I didn't even finish mine, I went somewhere else for something that was edible. I can tolerate pretty ropey food but this was dire and served by staff who were less than helpful and serving you was obviously an inconvenience. I'll certainly be giving it a wide berth next year.

I had lovely ravioli and a big cold Tuborg or two in the sunshine. Everyone else had meatballs and other yumminess. The staff were brilliant, the food was good and the prices were only a pound or so more than the stuff bought from stalls - served at a table with cutlery and courtesy. Not exactly a festival experience I was clamouring for, but after a couple of knackering days and nights, it was actually rather brilliant.

These fools spoiled my birthday! My partner booked a table for us weeks in advance, arranged boutique babysitting for our son and off we headed for a 9.00pm meal and giant drinks to celebrate my 45th birthday in style. I even had a wash and a shave! We arrived, were made to wait and watch for 20 minutes by a much put out staff member whilst kids no older than 12 (I assume employees, but as they were serving booze, I hope not) wiped tables and waiters rushed around aimlessly. We were sat down at a dirty table and then left for another 20 minutes. Eventually, we managed to get some service off a waiter and attempted to order some of the standard menu items. After working out way through the list, only to be told that they'd run out of most items, we finally managed to identify something that we could order. Ten minutes later, the waiter returned to tell us that they'd run out of the food we'd ordered and that they could not offer us the big cocktails either! The whole affair seemed badly organised and the staff we're clearly under manned. I suspect that the owners' kids were the ones we'd seen clearing and cleaning tables. Fair enough, we were at a festival, but for a restaurant to run out of food so early on one of the busiest nights of the festival shows very poor business management skills. One can only guess at how much they lost in sales. Strangely enough, they were still showing people to tables as we were leaving! To top this off, they sent us a feedback email - I can only assume that this lip service to customer care will end up in the bin. We eventually ended up eating a nice curry at one of the benches and drinking a pint or three of cider, so things worked out in the end. Poor show - I hope that Festival Republic think twice about wasting valuable space on this company next year. We loved everything about this years' festival and will be returning for our fifth year in 2011, but will be avoiding Giant Robot for sure.
