LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT - June 15th - The Rime Of The Modern Mariner

The Rime of The Modern Mariner with live score by Anthony Rossamando, Didz Hammond, Rose Elinor Dougall and Special Guests What is the depth of relationship between a nation and a state? Can a way of life, however ancient, survive the force of globalised trade? ‘The Rime of the Modern Mariner’ is a journey through lost communities, rediscovered pirates, colonial fortresses and the spindrift of folklore and legend. Following a successful debut at the East EndFilm Festival in April, Latitude is very excited to announce that ‘The Rime of the Modern Mariner’ is to get a special repeat performance at Latitude. Written and directed by Mark Donne and narrated by Carl Barat (The Libertines), the two will introduce this documentary to Latitude’s Film & Music Arena, complete with live score composed and performed by Anthony Rossamando (Dirty Pretty Things/ Klaxons). This showing will have a very special guest sound and orchestral band featuring Didz Hammond of Dirty Pretty Things, Rose Elinor Dougall ex-Pipettes, as well as others to be announced, stay on the lookout for further updates. The adventurous score is completed with a trio of string players to weave the score's melodic tentacles around the rhythm of the film. It utilises the sound of ship engines and a real dynamic aural expression of the nautical themes, threaded with nostalgia, for a truly unique musical experience. With the accompaniment from the assembled indie-rock collective - all performing for one night only - there will never be a more exciting time to see this intriguing and fascinating history of the original shipping heart of London than in the comfort of the Film & Music
