Not sure if Grouchland's comments are a joke or not; I'd have thought Pavement would be right up his avenue.

As a someone who bought the "Trigger Cut" single the day it came out (excitable 14-year old though I was) and who has always been much more fond of "Slanted and Enchanted" than the subsequent records (even "Crooked Rain...", which is obviously very good), I can't say I'm too excited about a Pavement reunion.

I went to see Stephen Malkmus last year, but (as I've often found, regardless how good the songs have been) felt something was missing. Simply playing a few of the Pavement hits with the old crowd won't bring that something back. Have never been big on reunions, any way - which is why I'd rather the Pixies-for-Latitude-headliners rumour turned out to be a hoax.

So, not too fussed either way, but still feel I won't hear many better albums than "Slanted and Enchanted" in the coming decades.

gonna be doing UK festival shows, but not the 'big stupid ones'.

Guess this must have them as a strong rumour for Lat '10 then?

Suppose it depends on what time frame the band have in mind - the only dates announced so far are in mid-September but as said they're planning stuff earlier than that. Coachella in April is one rumour doing the rounds for the first gig.
