apparently Angelos Epithemiou from Shooting Stars does stand-up!
calhudson a tactical rub with the tips of the fingers just below the balls usually eradicates shaking of the tent, and makes for a very interesting fap

ORIGINAL: SigmundFreudMumLover NO ONE GIVES A BUTTMUNCHKIN, COMEDIANS ARENT FUNNY. Mr. Freud and I don't always agree on all matters Latitude, but I think he has half a point here. Obviously, he is wrong in the sense that plenty of people do care about the comedy at Latitude - and I do in the sense that it provides variety, and (depending on the lineup) credibility, for the festival. However, I do often find that standup routines are patently unfunny. I only watched the odd snatch of a set this year (though I did enjoy Rich Hall and Miles Jupp last year), but I'm told that so many of the comedians based their sets around some moribund tale of discussing erections with their fathers (even the previously funny Dave Gorman - who used to have a very unique style - apparently reverted to this stock type). Similarly, I've often seen shows that pair comedians and politicians: the politician is almost invariably funnier. I do feel, however, that last year's comedy headliners were better than this year's (a trend shared by most of the tents at the festival - good though it still was). It's important that Latitude has good performers across all genres.

Thinking Doug Stanhope (of Newswipe fame) would be good. I'm not gonna pretend I'd heard of him before this series - I hadn't. But I and many other am finding him to the be the highlight of the series and his UK festival appearances seem to be pretty legendary. In August 2009, Doug was the subject of heavy booing and was at the receiving end of several thrown bottles at the Leeds Festival in the UK, he got the treatment after making derogatory comments about the Royal Family and the attitude of the English, which he likened to people in the stone age. Many people left early, though many hecklers stayed for no apparent reason, whom Doug continued to bait and taunt throughout his set. Doug finished his set to a standing ovation from the remaining half-full tent.

Over the last two latitudes I have only seen one comedy act, the tent is all ways full to overflowing. festival republic have a big problem with the comedy tent it only holds about 2000 people, and melvin said the comedians or there agentes would not play in bigger arenas.therefor if you booked a top comediam like ALAN CARR you would get four thousand people going to a tent that only holds 2000 and lots of unhappy people. this one is hard to resolve

Doug Stanhope would be brilliant. I saw him in September, and he was fantastic. My favourite comedian since the great Bill Hicks. Jon Richardson and Chris Addison would also be great. Please no Michael McIntyre.
