Twitter from Latitude
-
14 July 2009 14:13
Hi everyone, I couldn't see if this had been discussed before, but BBC Suffolk will be updating its Twitter page throughout Latitude (starting with a trip to the site tomorrow) and wondered who else will be updating? Maybe we should have a list of users to follow? Or will the #Latitude tag sort that out? All the best, Richard @bbcsuffolk http://twitter.com/BBCSuffolk

ORIGINAL: grouchland Nope, i'll be busy enjoying some bands. May twitpic a couple of photoes at most. You make a good point. I remember seeing Connor Mcnicholas's constant Tweets from a Glasvegas slot on the NME tour, saying how he can't believe how good this song is, what an amazing experience this is...and so on...whilst the band were playing. If it's that good, get off your phone.

If it's that good, get off your phone. There was an epic tweet argument between him and Sean from DiS once at a Friendly Fires gig once, one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever seen. Actually, it might have been the same NME gig.

I'm sure most people who tweet from the festival will be doing so in the downtime when there's nothing on you want to see, whilst you're eating, on the loo etc... people who use their phones during bands are

I enjoyed the experience when I went to Radio 1's Big Weekend - technically it was my job on a press pass to do that - but people said it provided something for those who weren't there.

I have never had a problem at Latitude (or Glasto for that matter) with poor reception - although that might be because I am on Orange. Texts sometimes take a while to come through, but I think that might be due to other networks.

i've found my old tweets from 07... not good, tempted to delete them. on the phones during band thing - i'd add people who spend most of the set with a camera in hand, watching the screen. dylan moran had an ace put down for that lot of ignorant oiks a couple of years ago - something along the lines of 'sod off home and watch tv - let people who actually want to watch the performance get into the tent'. i haven't got either his actual line nor his timing, sadly...

Up there with people in the arenas sitting in chairs for me. I like to set myself the same limits as a press photographer - if I am near enough, I will take a couple of snaps (flash off) during the first song and then put the camera away.

I remember O2 being very patchy last year, also with the transmitter getting overwhelmed text messages could be delayed between 30 minutes to 1hr. Don't belive 3G or EDGE has made it to southwold, but would be great if BBC offered a free Wi-Fi so we could send/receive our tweets. @martimedia

I can't remember where it was mentioned, or if it was in a press release, but O2 and another service provider have their own masts at Latitue this year - so reception/service will hopefully be better.

I won't be 'twittering' because it's a pointless and narcissistic fad. The mates that mean the most to me will be at the festival and, if they're not with me, we'll have a good old-fashioned chat about what we've seen and done during the day. One moment, just got to 'twitter'....."Yeah still breathing"...where was I? Oh hang on, twitter time "Yep, it's still Tuesday". FFS

I'll tweet if vodafone reception allows (it was fine last year), though probably more about food and general "festival chic" fashion critiques. When I'm watching a band I'm watching a band. @cat_elliott
