What about The Cure or The Smiths, both would be amazing playing acoustic sets.

What about if Robert Wyatt did it. I'm sure he'll be convinced by the fact young Ornette Coleman and Prime Time are definitely 100% playing.

He's perfect though. They're never gonna get someone over from the US solely for the slot and if Sufjan or someone like that came over for a load of shows then it wouldn't be special enough for the show. He's basically the only person whose sound fits it and Latitude are probably the only people groovy enough to throw money at him to convince him to get out of his shed. Also it would get you and Moochoo into the countryside and into some fresh air for a while.

I agree but I think that this slot will be reserved for something softer like Surfjan Stevens, though I could be wrong, he said he wanted something different so you never know....

I really don't think anyone else other than Ms Newsom should play it. What do we reckon the chances of that actually happening are? She's playing Green Man and touring atm.. speaking of Green Man, Beirut would also be sufficient in this slot.

If the talk of something radically different is true, then it's quite unlikely to be Joanna Newsom again. To be fair, I haven't heard her new album so she could have become a riddim-riding bashment MC for all I know.

Should probably just let THE PAINS have this slot now they're self confirmed for the Sunday. They could play the album about 3 times over in the hour slot.

I've been saying for a while it would be good is Newsom brought herself into the 20th century with some slick hip-hop producers. Imagine her singing about running away to the circus with rabbits and owls, or whatever, over Madlib and Sa-Ra Creative Partners.

I would usually agree with you about Beirut, but after seeing them last year performing what could have been the most underwhelming gig ever, I'll pass. Bonnie Prince Billy on the other hand, who blew me away last year, would be more than welcome for that slot.

What about if they smoked John Tickle out of hiding and got him to sit around being nice for an hour?

Having just heard the album, this is what we need: 1x David Byrne 1x Norman Cook Several musicians Several strong female voices (Florence is already there, but they could find some from other groups/ bring in session people) 1x deck chair (for me) Free gin And then they can perform Here Lies Love in full, in costume... and probably just in my dreams. Good idea?

Melvyn was going on about it being something different, and here lies love IS different... Either that or Flight of the Conchords/ Peter Gabriel/ Richard Ashcroft. Have a terrible feeling it could be Paul Weller doing his thoroughly dull new album though.
