Sunday night headliners, they would be great. All the kids would love them too.

They were at Camp Bestival on Latitude weekend and sang Happy Birthday to my friend. Lucky cow.
Having seen them live before have to agree they would be perfect for Obelisk headliners. Though I'd put them on on Saturday night and wind the whole festival down with Sufjan Stevens on the Sunday.

Hahahaha somehow I don't think his version of John Wayne Gacy Jr. or The Dress Looks Nice On You would live up to the originals...

Anyway, enough of this Shakin' Stevens nonsense, I for one would relish 'The Lips', they would be an amazing headline act.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE GET THEM for 2009.

Fri: Green Day

Sat: The Flaming Lips

That would be immense
Latitude has too many clashes

a tactical rub with the tips of the fingers just below the balls usually eradicates shaking of the tent, and makes for a very interesting fap

Whilst it's possible they'll cave-in to the incessant pressure, I doubt it. As I wrote on a previous thread, Flaming Lips are perceived as a medium-sized festival headliner; Latitude don't like to appear to nab a headliner from the merry-go-round. It’s a flawed philosophy, because the alternative is usually an artist (if one can dub Florence as such) playing at every other festival any way, just further down the bill. It’s not really different.

Flaming Lips would be good because they mix style (mainly in the form of a big bubble) with song-writing substance. That hollered, I sort of wish Coyne would find a new start-of-show trick now. Without ever experiencing it first hand, I feel fatigued by the multitude of videos blasted my way.

Neverthless, they're definitely a better idea than promoting someone like Marina and the Diamonds or Delphic, which (knowing Benn and Dun's grand design) is bound to come to fruition.

Ultimately, the only way we'd get Flaming Lips is on an exclusivity deal  - or if everyone else shoves them so far up the bill they're playing against a backdrop of sizzling bacon. Then they'd headline Latitude.

Moochoo is no more! Now (rising from the ashes, like a fiery phoenix, and regenerated, as unlike Doctor Who as possible) comes Mr Moochoo. http://www.last.fm/user/MrMoochoo31

not really a fan of the lips, myself, find them a bit, shall we say fussy ? but agree with the above post, and go further; they would be ideal latitude headliners, really...

but most of all, found the fact that this thread was started in 2008 hard to resist...

good luck wi gettin the lips XX

This wasn't even the first thread I made whinging that Flaming Lips should headline. I must've been 14 years old when I started do that.

They might this year. They are planning to do a new song each month, so probably could make time for Latitude. Would be perfect, they fit Latitude well.
