Got any good gigs lined up? 20 September 2007 20:24 (permalink)
You know to take the mind off the collective failures of England's sporting teams

Anyway October's looking fairly busy for me, I'm off to iLiKETRAiNS in Colchester and Stars in London, probably Rumblestrips in Southend as well. Planning to see Okkervil Valley in Colchester in November if I can...

October and November seem to be really busy for gigs round this area.  So much choice, so little money!  Would love to have got tickets for Kate Nash at UEA but that sold out.

So for us its Happy Mondays at UEA in a couple of weeks - a bit of a trip down memory lane for my husband and probably me if he can't find anyone else to go with him.

Then Athlete at UEA after that.   And then Rufus Wainwright in Cambridge at the end of Oct.

Probably not your cup of tea, but you asked!

Possibles are Ian Brown, KT tunstall and Chemical brothers just got to weigh the money situation up.
Tempted with the Keane charity thing also.
Registered for the led zep re-union also but will be very suprised if i get.

We're going to see the Editors too, the support sounds good, I must try to get there on time so we don't miss them.

I'm also going to see the Twang in October and Gorgol Bordello in December at the UEA and Seth Lakeman at the Waterfront, same night as Athlete.   I wanted to see We are Scientists again, as we saw them at the UEA last year and really enjoyed the gig, but they'd sold  out.

Rufus Wainwright is at Ipswich Regent 1st Nov, so I'm going to see him, much nearer home for me.  We saw him at UEA a couple of Christmases ago and he was  good live, he chats between songs and can be really funny.

Then there is Stereophonics in November  and Hard-Fi in December at Wembley Arena.    We were going to see the White Stripes at the O2 aswell but they cancelled.

I don't think there's going to be much money left to spend at Christmas!

Did anyone else see Kasabian at the UEA on 4th Sept?  We managed to get tickets to that one, it was a great gig.

That sucks. Really sorry to hear that.  I hope you get something sorted out soon Wayne.  Make sure you enjoy the gig.  My husband is unemployed at the moment too (must be something in the air).  A business partnership he started with a friend has just fallen apart rather spectacularly horribly so he's got to start again too.  Worrying times, but we and the kids are OK and that's all that matters.

We saw Rufus Wainwright last night, he was absolutely fantastic.  It was a seated gig, but none the less the atmosphere was great and I don't think I've ever been so drawn in to a performance like that before.  He was very funny too, some fab outfits, but I won't give any more away as it looks like gigmum is going in november!

Athlete last wednesday were great too - really impressive and better than expected.  Love the new album and I've only listened to it once so far.

No more gigs for us either now!!
                                Take care and keep smiling

Sorry, guys - I'm sure a lot of sorrys don't help much but I guess there's a lot of good will to you two on these threads. Hang on in there. And hope Idlewild are great - they'll just be finishing now, I suppose.

I've just got the National in Bristol in a couple of weeks time....Two Gallants are playing there two days later but I don't think I'll get back for them. Not enough creep points!

                                      Best wishes,
