Colchester Free Festival is a week Saturday, mostly very average local bands but the New Town Kings are always good and I quite like Angry Vs the Bear too, should be a good day.

I doubt I will be joining you on Sunday Hoppo, but you never know. If I do go, I'll keep a look out for you; I'm sure there are very few old snarling Northern men in the audience at Fall gigs so you won't be difficult to spot.

fall group are just such top bananas...great concert, in a great venue ...oooh cool stuff, and only one small faux pas. which was coming on all friendly like to jon robb...eeek sometimes i hate myself

Would like to go and see We Are Scientists at Portsmouth Pyramid Centre but I don't want to book anything in case I don't meet anyone who will come with me. I joined a facebook group for the hall of residence I'm staying in and I've been facebook stalking other members' music info, that's a bit sad isn't it.

Not sure yet. I think I'll do at least one of the Norwich Sound and Vision festival gigs but I can't be bothered doing all 3 nights on the trot, especially as whilst all 3 gigs seem ok none of the lineups are anything special really.

i have just got back from my first end of the road (well, actually i got back yesterday, but have just recovered from getting back).
 
well aware that i have a consistently irritating ability to be a bit gushing, i have to say that

IT WAS UTTERLY BRILLIANT

 
it is in a beautiful place, its very quaint and pretty and carefully thought through as a festival experience, the artists all seem to be so glad to be there and chat, most of the punters are great (there were precious few knobs of either the drunk pre sixth form variety or the summer season yah brigade), the volunteer staff are great and the bands were invariably good (albeit you'd need to be keenest on alt americana going on folky/rocky stuff which i fortunately am). oh, and they have great food (often very local) plus excellent beers and ciders on tap at decent prices, but if you want you can take your own carry outs right to the stages.
 
oh me, oh my i am one happy happy very tired punter totally back in love with festivalling. and i'm not even going to bore you silly with a detailed review, i'm that content.

It isn't a gig but OMG DICK AND DOM ARE GOING TO BE AT FRESHER'S WEEK!

This is relevant to my interests. 

The smaller festivals are often the best ones to go to with up and coming bands on ,next year think we may well go to more smaller festivals. green man looks goodwhat wood you say are the best festivals,the only one that i go to know is latitude. must get out more ?

I'm gonna go to the England Under 21 playoff 1st leg against Romania at Carrow Road on Oct 8th now instead of the Islet gig.

I'm probabaly gonna regret it but football on a Friday will be a big LADS NIGHT OUT and I've seen Islet before and will probably get loads of chances to see them again, even though they are amazing. Plus they're only the support innit.

Off to see Lissie in a couple of weeks in Norwich - I thought that she was surprisingly good at Latitude - enough to spend a tenner to see her again anyway.

Like gravity, karma is so basic we often don't even notice it.

Tickets for Darwin Deez, NME Radar tour and PAINS all booked up.

That London Pains gig is a bargain isnt it. 6 quid and an early time as well (5 to 8 I read). I'd love to go but I'll have started my new job by then and I'm not sure if they'd allow me the time off.
 
What Darwin and NME gigs are you going to? Portsmouth presumably?

Yep Wedgewood Rooms, are you going to the NAC ones? All 3 gigs only came to something like £30 inc. booking fees.

Going to Darwin @ NAC yeah. Thought about going to NME tour at the Waterfront but think I'll probably be giving that one a miss now.

Yeah I'm more looking forward to the other two, going to the NME gig because some friends are and it's literally ten minutes away.
