Can't muster the DJ Cash Money at present, but I'd love to.

Joseph knows why they've released the tickets 10 months early, right before I make my fortune.

Hopefully their pessimism will be justified and the tcikets will stay on the stalls long enough for me to have a shot.

I can meet you anyway. In fact, just alert me when you’re next in London: come alone – with plenty of onion bhajis

Tickets bought for The Whitest Boy Alive somewhere in Warsaw next week.  Like I said in that letter thingy that I sent with the cd I don't know much about 'em and so far I only really like 1 song, but it's a gig, and an excuse to go out on a Thursday (not that I ever need much of an excuse), so why not, could be fun.

If I don't slow down I'll make it to double figures for the number of bands I'll see this year! *makes shocked face*

Really want to see B&S this December so I'm looking into going to the Bournemouth date as although it's a two hour train journey from Portsmouth I'd be able to get a train back at like quarter past 11.

Any Inspiral Carpets fans on here? Is it worth seeing Tom Hingley live for free in a tiny pub?

Hahaha. What are you doing to me, BeeRose? Nostalgia is heroin for old people.  God knows, I am going my best to stay clean and focus on the here and now. It's all we have, in the end.

Inspiral Carpets were a key formative group for the 13/14 year old Nico Ri/j/j/inders. Amazing scenes as I stood next to The Wedding Present at the Swindon Oasis gig that gave Oasis their name. I collected the pre-Tom Hingley 12"s, my parents brought rare Peel Session EPs home from trips to London and I listened expectantly to the top 40 run down, hoping that their post-Madchester singles wouldn't bomb in an undignified manner.

I think they're from Oldham or somewhere around there, so I'm sure hoppo will be on soon to tell us they all used to try to return used cat litter and such like.

So I probably would go and see Tom Hingley in a pub for free. He's got a strong voice at least and they had a surprising number of decent singles. But ultimately, he is a right old geezer and no mistake, from a deeply unfashionable group from the best part of 20 years years ago, so nobody could blame a youthful thrill seeker from not wanting to travel far to said pub or wanting to stay in a talk about Pokemon on the message board of an arts festival that took place a few months ago, instead.

Yeah I thought as much haha. He's playing at the Bull in Colchester, practically my local, which is why I'm considering it. Had it been on a Thursday or a Saturday, official TOWN NIGHTS I'd definitely go, but it's a Friday which is my official hangover and write about the night before on latitude forums night.

Really Nico?  I was gonna watch them on YouTube first but I think I'll just turn up next Thursday and see what I see.  And it's in a place I've been wanting to check-out but I've yet to visit, plus it's near a few cool bars, so all-in-all next Thursday looks like it could be a fun evening.

Pulled Apart by Horses at the Sugarmill in Stoke, but dare I go there again? When I went to Delphic the crowd was so bad I was desperate to leave.

Also British Sea Power in Huddersfield and Hebden Bridge which would both be good venues to see them. BUT I'm in Stoke :'(
This is relevant to my interests.

an interesting question there BR, easily answered ...love the music of the group, the people who make such wonderful rackets, well meh, not that interesting are they, musicians, i have met a few people who play instruments for a living, and unless you buy into to that whole celebrates are interesting thing, musicians tend to be about as interesting as plumbers...pretty interesting if you are into pipes and solder, otherwise, a bit dull...
also take a look at the fall forum sometime, so many of them have 10-20 thousand + posts, its really scary...me, i am just a neophyte...

there is an in-bedded M.E.S. joke for any hard core fan who may read this

Just seen that the Grass Widow/Trash Kit gig in Ipswich in a few weeks time (my birthday weekend in fact) is 6pm to 9pm, what excellent timings. All gigs on a Sunday in a place I have to get to by train should be like that.

                                Thumbs up!

The support for that Fall gig looks really quite appalling, if you go on ents24's always-reliable blurbs:

                                  The Salford Jets

Classic old skool punk rock whose single 'Who You Looking At' was global hit across the whole of Manchester in the late 70s. The band reformed in 2003, still fronted by the mighty Mike Sweeney - vocals, guitar and former Piccadilly Radio DJ, and former maths teacher Diccon Hubbard on bass and vocals.

                                  The Rain Band

This is pure Brit electronica from Cabaret Voltaire to early Human League with the euphoric melancholia of Pet Shop Boys and New Order. Already sessioning heavily on Steve Lamacq they merge powerhouse melodic rock with sleazy pre-sequenced keyboardings. Add a touch of jangly rock and pound incessantly.

                                  1913

South Manchester band combine the dark dissonance of primetime Joy Division with a pure pop sensibility of Arcade Fire.

                                  Spencer

                                  Brazilian hip-hop, disco and house.

"Thomas we've been a bit worried about you, to be honest. You seem exhausted and haven't been out for ages. Maddix said you'd ignored a few of his texts. Is everything ok?"

"To be honest Nico, I've not been feeling so great. I've been sessioning heavily on Steve Lamacq and it's getting a bit out of hand."

I'm sure there's a new rubbish band called THE RAIN BAND every 5 years who get a bit of radio play after ripping off New Order and the Madchester sound and then disappear without a trace. It's never the same band either.
