interesting as that assumes that every performance gives at least a bit of joy to the audience

Ok, I'll rate each and every performance I saw during the entire weekend... ... which of course was absolutely nothing. I excelled myself this year by not even noticing a single second of music. I could rate all the forumers I met though, out of 10??? *insert a mischievous wink thing*

▲ interesting as that assumes that every performance gives at least a bit of joy to the audience Not joy to the audience, only to me. Everyone else could be emotionless automatons that are only imitating emotions for all I am able to conclusively prove. On my exponential rating system all bands produce at least e 1 joy (x), but it can be countered by other factors such as anger (y), melancholy (z), sarcasm (a), volume (b), arousal (c), how comfortable my shoes are (f), etc. Which obviously means that a band would have to excrete a lot of joy to compensate for a pair of 4 inch heels. As the rating is only on one axis here I chose joy. Sometimes I worry that my brain is broken... but no, reading that back it all seems reasonable.
It's quite interesting, you know, the number of biscuits that are named after revolutionaries. You've got your Garibaldi, of course, you've got your Bourbons, then of course you've got your Peek Frean's Trotsky Assortment.

The Vaccines 9 Bombay Bicycle Club 7 Sat; NMTB 9 Adam Ant 11 (hence no A*) They Might Be Giants 9 Omid Djalili 6 Paula Nutella 7 Waterproofs 9.5 Sun; Scala 5 The Leisure Society 8 Dylan Moran 18 (he scorns your confines) OMD 9.5 Lykke Li 8.5 Eels 10 (perfect) The bit of the underside of the car that fell off this week after the mud battered it 1.5 The loo cleaners 10
