I think sedan chairs might be more appropriate ideally with a 3rd slave on hand to go and listen to the bands and tell me if I like them or not and fetch refreshments regularly.

      1. Exiting the site when it is wet is a real joke. The amateur approach may have been just about acceptable when this was a small family festival, but now it is a joke. We had to leave early as we could not risk getting stuck in the mud. Only just made it out and damaged my car in the effort. What is so upsetting was it was preventable - main exit with 3 tracks leading to it was not even partly paved by plastic sheets. I was told on Saturday night at least 15 cars were waiting to be pulled out of the day ticket area. All preventable and you really should sort it out for next year.
I SUGGEST LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE A CAR IN MUDDY COINDITIONS AS I HAD NO PROBS

      moffatross,
      1. Having to walk up that steep hill to get back to Tangerine Fields was horrid at the best of times but when it is getting dark it became a real joke.
Treating all your customers the same may have been just about acceptable when this was a small family festival, but now it is an injustice. We had to leave the arena extra early each evening to avoid meeting drunks, youths and even middle aged people going the other way who really should have known better. We only just made it back before it was pitch black and I ruined my shoes in the effort. What is so upsetting was it was preventable - the main exit from the arena with a single lane leading up from the bridge was not even partly served by a travelator. I was told on Sunday morning that at least 3 people from 'The Fields' slipped in the mud on the way back. We paid extra for our tipi and expected better treatment. It's all preventable and you really should sort it out for next year with the installation of a chairlift and swipecard system.
so you paid extra to stay in a posh tent and expected a private lift back to your tent as people where tripping in the mud, you where in a field at a festival what do you expect concreat pathways? and as for a travelator you must be having a right laugh. so your shoes got riuned? well you must have enough money to buy a new pair if you can stay in tanerine fields and as for meeting up with drunken people what do you expect YOU ARE AT A FESTIVAL people get drunk did you expect people to go to bed at 10pm every night? and oh dear you had to walk up a hill, what a shame so did i. AND YOU WANT CUPS OF TEA MADE FOR YOU BY STAFF? you must be joking now, get a life and if you want to go away again i suggest you book youeself and family into a 5* hotel

took us 3 hours to get out of the car park. didn't really seem that organised warden-wise... no complain about the weather, added a level of fun and danger to the mix.

What vehicle you were driving had a lot to do with it.

Mates in their fwd Passat had absolutely no probs behind, whereas mine was lethal. Nobody was going to let a freshly valeted new Jag out into the queue, were they now? :) (Cue huge sympathy all round).

The total lack of on hand assistance is my main complaint.

I didn't notice the water running out as I never drink the stuff.

Seems every post in every thread  by alfisti lowers my opinion of him - you certainly aren't cut out for getting dirty with the country low lives, are you mate? Perhaps next year, you can stay at a Hilton somewhere and watch the whole thing on Sky Arts with a cucumber sandwich.

That sounds a wonderful idea. Are there any plans to build one in Henham Park? I'd prefer artichoke in truffle oil to the cucumber, mind, if it's all the same to you.

Nice response. A +1 to you, sir, and I'll flambe the thinly carved swan for you myself.

Swan always gives me reflux and plays hell with my gout, but I'm most grateful for the offer.

Seriously - you have me wrong. I'm not a snob. OK - I have a nice car, but I was the first to say that if I got stuck, a lot of others would enjoy it immensely.

I guess i got lucky with the car park/mud situation. Parked my Focus in Weekend parking, left at approx 9:30 on Monday morning and had numerous stewards telling us where to go and advising to use the grass where possible (which i did).

I agree with the comments about some people not being able to drive in the mud though. Spinning your wheels and flooring it is never going to work.....

I'll be honest, you got my goat with the moan about Tangerine Fields - I think I may have overreacted, but cmon, you are at a festival, and you can't seriously expect a campsite right by the village to be quiet? At least Scruff was playing some chillout stuff - Imagine if it had been non stop gabba and jungle?

Back on topic, we all knew getting out of the parking was going to be a mare - too few peeps were trying to handle too many jobs, and something got missed. Squit happens, and at least everyone got home in the end. I was very lucky, I was on the first London bus, and managed to arrive only ten minutes behind the expected schedule. Karma for taking the green option, I like to think!
