The segregation worked suprisingly well didn't it - I was very cynical of it beforehand. Was quite nice never being able to see a blood ridden tampon when going for a wee like normal.

Well shut my mouth, the toilets were FANTASTIC this year. Really really improved on last year, clean, well stocked, didn't fill (How DID you empty the portaloos? i'm intrigued) longrops in camp were great, managed 9 "bump bumpp-bump bumps" on the flap thingies & according to the misses, even the ladies loo's lines were quick. GOOD JOB GUYS.

I just love the fact thtat my younger sis went to the female urinals, was handed a funnel and said "no thanks, i'm alright". I don't know how the **** she managed it, but apparenty she managed without! She thought they were handing out instructions!!!

A big thank you to the toilet attendants. They really worked hard. The female urinals were hilarious - I did try but I just don't work that way!

Hehe, they did take a bit of getting used to, but i'm still not that convinced lol. Great for avoiding huge loo queues though!

Was dreading going to the loos after the last time I came I was gagging and trying my hardest not to puke at the smell and sights, so a big thumbs up for the loos! While the toilet block was as far away as it could possibly be because of where we camped everyone I knew managed fine, made for a bit of 'banter' when desperate for a wee. I quite liked the fact that whenever I went to the loos in our zone I ended up bumping into someone I knew that I wasn't camping with and otherwise didn't see over the weekend. Queues were nice and short, loved the foot pump even when drunk so it took a couple attempts to press it hard enough to work, and absolutely no smell! As far as toilets go, these were brilliant. As for the female urinals, was going to have a go until my friend came out and had to run back to the tent as she got it all over her shorts instead!

Have to confess when I saw the plans I feared the worsed. I also feared the worse when I saw the new longdrops (flaps...erm....get covered....). But they worked well!! Also a big thanks to the poor attendants who manned the loos in the campsite 24hrs a day without any cover and some looked sadly unprepared for working in rain and mud.

lozzyhickers Ewww...thanks Maddix. At least girls don't miss =P I have to disagree to that comment. In previous years I've following ladies into the long drop toilets and found unpleasantness. Ladies that prefer to 'hover' over the seat instead of cleaning any previous mess can indeed miss, by a long way! I think this years arrangements have definitely work out for the best. I we get some urinals in the camp site then it'd be perfect.

Have to say I was impressed with the toilets this year. Kept very clean and didn't experience ANY queues (although I am a man). Was amazing. Had some first time festival goers with me this year and they were expecting the worst but they couldn't believe how well kept they were. The girls loved the shewee too. :)
Latitude Attendee 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 + probably forever.

It's a shame just the shewee is offered as some of us just don't get on with that and prefer the whiz! I have one but never used the urinals in the end as the loo queues were never that bad and most clothing/underwear hasn't been designed for whiz/shewee use so it's quicker to just to use a normal loo.

norfolkmist I was worried about the attendants though, they looked very unhappy. must say that they did make a huge difference, but i also felt concerned at being at a renowned " white middle class" festival, only to have our toilets cleaned by multi-ethnic, non english speaking people

The segregation was due to the alleged(?) sexual assaults from last year's festival. Personally I was really annoyed about this (I'm female) as it meant having to suffer the usual tedious queues when needing a pee. This was thankfully only a big issue in the campsite, as the arena had the legendary she-wees, and more toilets generally. Thought it was fine in there. The campsite issue, however, was maddening. Saturday was basically ruined for me as I got ****ed down on while waiting 10 mins to use a toilet after getting up (i had gone during a dry period and would have made it if not been made to queue with a bunch of other women!) Not impressed. No idea whether or not it's helpful in the light of the assault that prompted the decision, just annoyed!

Can't fault the toilets. Must have been to about 20-odd festivals and am delighted to see they've finally caught up with human evolution.

Men need urinals in the campsite as well. Our inability to hit a stationary target from 0.5m does not end once we leave the Arena. PS How do we manage at home?

Loos this year were amazing. Clean, well stocked with loo roll and a blooming queueing system! Hurrah! Never had to wait more than about 5 minutes, but normally it was much quicker. Last year, queueing for the loos by the comedy tent was frustrating as you'd find dozens of empty long drops at the back but hundreds of sheep stood in a queue at the front assuming that there weren't any empty ones and not bothering to go and check. Muppets. (At V one year, I watched the entire set by Jet whilst waiting in a queue for the toilets...) So well done Latitude for sorting it out. Much much much better than any festival I've been to.
