markdog Funny you should say that Raffles but I think the Corn Exchange is a dire venue. Mainly because of the crowd it attracts of people who seem disinterested in the music and the excessive amount of bloody phones being held in the air. I'm with you on a bit of rowdyness and mayhem though. The Oliver James moment at the Junction was one of my top gig going experiences. This. By far and away my number one pet peeve. I often find an excuse to "bump" into people so I can tell them to sod off when they whinge I'm ruining their video. You are supposed to go to a gig to watch the band, not go "Korean Tourist" and film it then watch it all when you get home.Stupid bloody pillocks.

At Godspeed I eventually just told the guy getting football updates from a friend for half an hour that I'd waited years for this gig, and that he should put the phone away or **** off. He did both.
"This is my coffee, by the way, which doesn't represent anything. I'll put it over there..."

It must depend on the audience...the Cambridge crowd seemed to have very little interest in hearing anything by Gomez the last time they came. Thom Yorke and Interpol had their undivided attention though! The worst one was Mew in London ...no; I don't want to hear your comically out of tune version of the song while your braying boyfriend laughs just so he can get in your knickers later!!! I always wondered why go to a gig if you all you want is a chat..plenty of pubs out there.
