Hello... and thank you :-)

You haven't seen me before, but I've been lurking for a long time... Now that Latitude is nearly upon us, I just wanted to say a massive thankyou to all on the forum for the advice, information and, dammit, entertainment that I've got here over the last few months; and especially today for the clashfinder. Hugely appreciated. Even though I'm a bit of an oldie, this will be my first Latitude, in fact my first festival. If it's as much fun as the forum, I can't wait! Roll on Thursday...

Hi akbea, and welcome, good to have you around, glad you've been liking the fourm... it is indeed a thing of curious wonder (or just plain odd, whatever).

Hey Roger are the pixies in the woods under your guidance? Cos a friend of a friend who I'm going with is working as one this year apparently.

Yep, that's me, the Pixie wrangler again, so they are under my guidance/control. Oooh cool, I'll be working with a friend (of a friend) of Damaris!

Cool, I don't really know anything about her apart from that I met her once briefly at a James Blake gig but I don't really remember. As a matter of interest, can she get into the main camping areas? Cos I think she wanted to camp with us for some of it.

Out of interest Roger, my daughter was wondering about being a Pixie (she's volunteering) but it says let them know when you arrive if you're interested in being a pixie or a HAT. Does this mean it's first come first served and if she doesn't arrive til Wednesday (she's not in one of the groups that have the meeting on Tuesday) she won't stand a chance? Or maybe Pixie's are signed up in advance, would they bring their own outfit, lol!!! She's quite happy to do anything but we were just wondering.

As a matter of interest, can she get into the main camping areas? Cos I think she wanted to camp with us for some of it. She's allowed to enter the main camping area, but the company she's working for (the company that's suppling the pixies) will most likely want her to camp with them - it's easier to keep track of your stewards if they're all camping together... it's not unknown for them to go a little bit AWOL. She'll should ask 'em when she gets there.

I'm not totally sure how the Pixie/CAT jobs are allocated, they're supplied by a third party company and I don't know exactly how they're running things. I do have a slight feeling that it's decided in advance and people are notified, but I'm not definite on that. Who knows, there may well be some pixie places left, so she should mention it when she arrives and hope for some good news,

akbea I'm glad I didn't say anything about getting a warm welcome in my first post... haha said in true forum spirit. note that for your first post you did create a perfectly normal latitude thread - within two posts it had gone completely off topic and become a nerdy chat about pixies. (and belatedly welcome, hope you stick around)
