Latitude Newbie - Advice Please 11 July 2011 16:53 (permalink)
Hi All,

This is my first year to Latitude and its come around so quickly ive hardly had a chance to think about it and im now getting a tad excited! We are trying to check out a new festival each year and so far have been to Bestival, Camp Bestival, Green Man, Glasto - many moons ago, and few smaller ones.

Ive just got a couple of questions:

Whats the capacity for this years festival?
Are the campsites a long walk from the car parks?
Are there usually big queues to get in on Thursday, aiming to arrive by 4ish?
Is there anything going on on the Thursday night?
Its my husbands birthday on Sunday 17th, I was just wondering is there anything particularly special we can do to celebrate?

Thanks

Not sure, someone here will know though
Are the campsites a long walk from the car parks?
Depends where you camp, but it starts right next to the carpark so you'll be fine
Are there usually big queues to get in on Thursday, aiming to arrive by 4ish?
Yes, but it moves pretty quick - the excitement means waiting isn't an issue :)
Is there anything going on on the Thursday night?
Nothing on the music stages, but plenty on the others

Giant Robot sit down meal?  Not sure of the details, worth Googling though.

Capacity is 25000 I think in total. It's the same as last year but they've expanded the arena size this year so it won't be too busy!
Not really sure about campsite/car park question in relation to the other festivals you mentioned (excluding Glasto obviously).
There are usually big queues on Thursday but hopefully it will have died down a bit by 4ish.
There is lots on Thursday night - much theatre and poetry, Guillemots are doing a live film score in the Music & Film tent too.
You could go for a sit down meal at the Giant Robot if you wanted something a bit more...well, er, classy for the birthday. More info here: http://latitudefestival.c...bot_restaurant_and_bar

lastmanineurope - you'll get there, dont worry :)

damaris - good answers there,  regarding the carpark issue, its not a terribly long walk no in the scheme of things.

See I'd say: it's a pretty long walk if you want to get remotely near the arena; there should be 35k there but don't think it's sold out, the queues are pretty big on Thursday so make sure you have some drink and don't need a pee; plenty of getting oriented, bars, stuff in tents and woods on Thursday but no live bands; take your husband to Giant Robot for a cocktail then the Winter's Ball.

Is capacity 35k? Is that including day tickets or what?

                        good to hear Damaris :)

i thought the capacity it may be a little bit less but, when taking into account of day tickets and staff, yeah its not far off i remember.

I don't think the campsite to car park walk could be anywhere near as far as those at Glasto! They are miles away (probably an exaggeration but it looked like it).  It's my hubby's birthday on Saturday but I'm not sure we have time for a sit down meal, too much to see, although it does sound tempting!  I shall definitely take him to the Winter's Ball though, sounds like fun.
