News Corp at Latitude?

Please don't say they'll be selling their papers on site, yeah? I know Sky are here and Murdoch's involved but, i'm not gonna be a hypocrite on that and shun their coverage, i have a sky subscription but still...

i tried discussing this over on the moochoo morning thread but no one was interested. i have no doubt that The Times will once again have an exclusivity deal at the festival.

I did ask Melvyn last year if we could have a range of newspapers like the festival did before 2010. He was taking comments on board, but I can't imagine it'll happen.

They can sell them - doesn't mean we have to buy them nor visit the Sky arts nonsense stand ;)

The Sunday Times logo still there among the sponsors near the foot of the page on the official site. They'll be there, no doubt to the exclusion of anyone else. Even more reason not to spend valuable festival time reading a newspaper!

For me, whats annoying me is the exclusivity of it all, i'm fortunate enough to have a phone with internet on it so i can look on the BBC news site if i want to know whats going on but, the idea of being under a strangle hold by Murdoch's empire isnt really fare game in my opinion. The more i can distance myself from those b**tards, the better tbh. Tempted to buy in a sh!te load of other newspapers on saturday morning and sell em next to the other sellers just to stick it to the man.

Let's not do this please? I've been writing about it for what seems like ever, including many thousands of words today alone...

Inevitable - easy cash to be made finding your fest an exclusive newspaper - even Glasto only has the Grauniad (though that would certainly be preferable to anything Murdoch-related, particularly after recent events)

They'll be selling it but I won't be buying (and I may fling poo at anyone I see buying the times or approaching sky), although it's not much of a sacrifice for me as I can't bring myself to read newspapers while they are effectively unregulated, unreliable and blatantly biased in their reporting. It does worry me that Murdoch might make out on this situation overall if they relaunch NotW as the Sun on Sunday, use that as a way to say that they don't have a strangle-hold on the media (and government, and police), then pick up the remaining share of BSkyB on the cheap.
It's quite interesting, you know, the number of biscuits that are named after revolutionaries. You've got your Garibaldi, of course, you've got your Bourbons, then of course you've got your Peek Frean's Trotsky Assortment.

they'll pick up bskyb whatever happens. i can't see any reason why they wouldn't, they're tories ffs. hunt will just wait until september to let people calm down over hacking-gate then pass the deal through before heading off to the countryside to drink champagne and laugh at stephen dowler's text messages.

Yeah i don't read newspapers as a general unless its completely neutral and independant or the economist (even then, that angers me when its on aright wing nonsensical rant sometimes). Oh well, good job BBC news is my favourite. <3

How about we buy as many as we can and give it to the kids who will be trying to burn their wellies?

Only if you can formulate a balanced 3000 word feature on the history and denouement of the telephone hacking episode citing major protagonists and reaching an original take on the future of the media industry in light of today's developments. Apparently.

It'll make certainly The Early Edition (and any other Editions that Brigstocke & Co do) even more barbed
