Fave video game? I used to play Omega Race for hours and hours, on my VIC20, off of 1981.

This Is England 86 is quite boring, and exactly like 80% of everything Shane Meadows does. One day he'll make a science fiction set on some dystopian Mars community in the 4382AD and it will still be about a child who gets bullied at a grim Midlands school, have ska soul and indie in the soundtrack and feature Paddy Considine in a reasonably important role. Quite looking forward to this Derren Brown lark tonight. Everything he does is such a spectacle.

To keep on topic, I'm watching the Professionals right now on BBC4, what a programme, I love it so much. Bodie is pretty much my perfect man.

I'm a fan of him, at least he admits it's all trickery. It's such an injustice that he's gay too.

OMG everything Derren Brown does is all the same thing, etc. I think Grouchland was upset by This Is England 86's fair haired kid does exams, has miserable time, narrative. I thought it was great. A bit slight, but it's nice just spending more time with the characters and LOL is very lovely with blonde hair.

i also thought TIE86 was pretty great telly; well written, beautifully shot, well acted...sure, as nico said a bit slight, but am sure it will build...more of things like this and less reality shows, esp Big freekin Brother;;;a show for dulltards if ever there was one. good stuff chanel 4

Yeah This is England 86 carried on from the film nicely I think. It's clearly gonna be a bit of a slowburner, the stuff hinted at with Lol's dad seems like it will be pretty interesting too. It was never gonna be a complete disaster anyway as Meadows strenght has always been in the charachterisation. As Nico said, it was nice to just spend some more time with them all, hopefully the plot will get more interesting as we go on, but yeah - promising start.

I'm watching a BBC4 documentary about northern food tradition. Referencing Georges Bataille in a rhubarb shed...interesting.

Think I might watch that Alan Davies thing about THE EIGHTIES tonight. Quite like the look of the trailer for it. Also just a heads up, they are showing The Fall: The Wonderful and Frightening World of Mark E Smith again on BBC4 on Fri @ 9.25, though I'm sure most people here will be saying a tearful farewell to Big Brother instead.

I honestly think there will be tears in my beers at the end of Big Brother, especially if there's a Preston/Chantelle snog. What an incredible tv programme.

Yeah I watched it as a special treat and it was proper great telly. The Corrie tram smash won't be able to compete with that.

Aren't Channel Five just going to have Big Brother instead? What's all this about Coolio being massively abusive to Nadia, BB editing it to make Nadia look unreasonable in leaving and now Nadia attempting to top herself?

Anyone who watched The Inbetweeners instead of the finale of Grandma's House both missed out big time AND is a nincompoop. One of my favourite episodes of any TV programme this year.
