Just watched 'Maps, Power, Plunder and Possession' on BBC4. Excellent look at the history of map making and imposing geographical and cultural boundaries. And it also features 'So Long So Lonesome' by Explosions In The Sky over the credits. I would be so, so happy if Latitude tried to book them again :-/

Yes, my flatmate was watching this and I caught the sound of Explosions In The sky. Best use of post rock in film or tv after Godspeed in 28 Days later and Mogwai in a tv show I watched about the haunted London Underground.

And there was that time on Corrie when Steve put Spiderland in the Rovers Return jukebox.

I need to catch up on Luther; gave up on the first series, but my life is a lot emptier now. The Apprentice is a bit weak this year I think, and Jim is exactly like my old manager so I find the whole thing uncomfortable to watch. Corrie is down the ****ter. I basically only look forward to Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.

this series of Luther is so much better than the last one it's unbelievable. i'm going to have a Treme catch-up tomorrow i think. haven't seen the last 3 episodes. when i stopped posting on here i convinced myself that in the film & music arena there was going to be a Treme night featuring some of the best bands from the show, like Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Sizzlers and John Bouette and an interview with Sir David Simon.

I was kind of hoping that they may have a q and a with the chap that plays Tyrion Lannister. But David Simon would be fantastic. He was at the Hay Festival a while ago so it is a possible in the future. Maybe with Clarke Peters and Wendell Pierce. Melvin Williams too. Just please do not let Miranda Sawyer do the interviewing.

▲ game of thrones is absolutely awful. hbo really dropped the ball with that one. I thought Game of Thrones was alright, but I'm happy as long as there is a new show that doesn't involve parading the bland and/or talentless in front of a panel of the most uncharismatic and obnoxious people available in order to be judged on the basis of whether they can make money for Simon Cowell, or one of these new faux docu-dramas designed to reinforce regional stereotypes and... just... **** me off!
It's quite interesting, you know, the number of biscuits that are named after revolutionaries. You've got your Garibaldi, of course, you've got your Bourbons, then of course you've got your Peek Frean's Trotsky Assortment.

luther tonight was great. wish they'd have more weirdo loner serial killers instead of focussing on stupid overwrought 'edgy' storylines from his home life though.

I keep meaning to get started on that. Please let us know how good it is. I don't watch much TV at the moment, which is a shame because TV is great. But Corrie at the moment is awful.

Two episodes in, waaaaaaah it's really really good and gripping but crikey they drop you in at the deep end and also Aaron Paul is quite yummy for a meth dealer.
