Forum-wide Best Albums Ever poll
24 July 2010 14:13
( permalink)
Post your top 10 albums of all time below. 10 points will be awarded to number 1, 9 to number 2 etc. Then sometime when it appears to have died I will collate the results and we will see who actually made the best album ever. There will be no limits on how many times a band can feature in your list.

If you want, you may include compilations.

I'm wondering if I'll seem like Alan Partridge if I include The Best of Neil Young, rather than Harvest or summat

Difficult to say. As a youngling my tastes veer towards newer music. Easiest to avoid objectivity altogether 1) Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea 2) The Wrens - The Meadowlands 3) Joanna Newsom - Ys 4) Radiohead - OK Computer 5) Radiohead - Hail to the Thief 6) Elliott Smith - XO 7) ***Elliott Smith - Either/Or 8) Badly Drawn Boy - Hour of Bewilderbeast 9) My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 10) Les Savy Fav Inches ***EDIT: Slippery slope, but I need to make one change. Okkervil River's The Stage Names to number 7. Les Savy Fav goes, hobviously And grouchland, I prefer a points system that's proportionate... I wouldn't say my number 1 is 10 times better than the number ten. 20 down to 11 makes more sense.

grouchland It would just end up with the same results anyway. eh? Say 9 people put an album in the number 10 spot. By your system that makes an album placed at number 1 by one other person better rated.

Roger's alluded to it already, but Best of the Beatles will do while I think about how to come up with a list of 10. 1 Stone Roses - The Stone Roses 2 Nirvana - Nevermind 3 REM - Out of Time 4 Radiohead - The Bends 5 Oasis - Definitely Maybe 6 Massive Attack - Blue Lines 7 Portishead - Dummy 8 REM - Automatic for the People 9 Blur - Modern Life is Rubbish 10 U2 - The Joshua Tree so tempted to go for High Violet at 10, but me just not love it long time enough yet.
I don't have the drugs to sort it out.
